Terrific reading on April 9 at New England Mobile Book Fair in Newton, Massachusetts! Awesome audience (including the fantabulous Hank Phillippi Ryan)…
In my heart of hearts of hearts, here’s what I’d love for you to do: Go! Run! Buy a copy! Fall in love with THE ART OF FLOATING! Share that love with anyone and everyone who will listen!
A big smooch to all those who’ve been on this journey with me: husband & daughter, family, friends, amazing agent Barbara Poelle, editor, publicists! Thank you! Thank you!
So many great things have happened along this path! Check ’em out!
And I’ve been waiting (tapping toes) for my copies of the book to arrive from Penguin, each day peeking out the window a thousand times to see if they were on my doorstep. Then last night—March 31—voila!
Now I’m going to flop into a chair, put my feet up, and breathe!
This is it, folks! The big launch party for THE ART OF FLOATING. Tonight. Friday, March 28, at 7pm. At Jabberwocky Bookshop in Newburyport, MA. Right in the town where the novel takes place.
Yep, I know that the book doesn’t officially release until April 1, but Penguin/Berkley has graciously given permission for Jabberwocky to sell copies at the event. Huzzah!
I hope to see all of you there! Yes, all of you!
And if you are inclined to buy a copy of THE ART OF FLOATING and read it, I’ll be eternally grateful. This is what it’s about really…when the story I imagined and saw in my head and spent years putting on the page reaches readers. Reaches you.
A few weeks ago, after sending an ARC of THE ART OF FLOATING to the amazing author/human Hank Phillipi Ryan, I received an email from her that read, “I don’t know quite what to make of this unique and enchanting novel, but I cannot put it down.”
A week later, after reading the whole book, Hank wrote again. This time she shared the following: “A triumph. A treasure. Tender, profound, and hilariously heartbreaking. A gorgeously magical story that will have you saying ‘my favorite!’ and then sharing it with everyone you know.”
I, of course, have been smiling ever since. Walking around with “Tender, profound, and hilariously heartbreaking” running through my head and heart. It means something when someone gets your book—really GETS it. You know what I mean?
If you don’t know Hank’s work, check it out. Her latest novel, THE WRONG GIRL, is currently:
- an AGATHA nominee for Best Contemporary Novel
- a Left Coast Crime nominee for Best Mystery (set in the United States)
- a nominee for Best Suspense/Thriller of 2013 (from the RT BookReviews Reviewers’ Choice Awards)
